Mountain Trail

Hike up to underrated look out spots, and discover flora and fauna straight out of the pages of a high fantasy novella. Or you could just soak in the sunlight in an artist retreat and get your creative juices flowing with the unpolluted air.

Mountain trails across length and breadth

Through the length and breadth of India, there are mountains that enthral you with their beauty and magnanimity. It’s all here, ready to be crafted into a story once we get your preferences. And if you need inspiration, you need not look far!

1. Ladakh

An ethereal, enchanting kingdom in the mountains. Bucket list road trip, and a slice of Tibet. The cold, barren yet beautiful desert of Ladakh is testimony to the fact that life finds a way. To the keen-eyed observer, lessons in sustainability and local construction are aplenty. On the other hand, this is a trip that etches in your minds, quite moments of blissful solitude. Amongst towering mountains and unforgettable landscapes.

2. Himachal Pradesh

Home to the Western Himalayas, with colonial hill station getaways and a plethora of treks to attract backpackers, Himachal has a lot for everyone if you look beyond the mainstream. Imagine snow-capped peaks glowing golden in the setting sun with the background track of a fresh water stream ft.some chirping birds. Valleys straight out of a fairy-tale, dotted with charming villages- each being a case study in architecture.

3. Uttarakhand

True to its name of Devabhumi, Uttarakhand is home both to a number of mythical mountain peaks and lakes, as well as the erstwhile home of legendary Jim Corbett. Explore the places he describes in Man Hunters of Kumaun, or perhaps emulate the Beatles in search of the spiritual in Rishikesh- the choice is yours. The Hem Kund Trek in Spring, when you can watch the valley of flowers in all its glory is another bucket list worthy idea.

4. Sikkim, Assam and North Eastern Gems

The long roads in the North Eastern Seven Sisters come with equally beautiful vistas. Think surreal landscapes – Himalayan massifs, with monasteries and temples in equal abundance. Enjoy a view of the world’s third highest mountain the Khangchendzonga from a quite little corner of Western Sikkim, in Pelling, or explore the grasslands of Kaziranga by the side of the famed one horned rhinoceros.

5. West Bengal

Enjoy the colonial charm of Darjeeling. Or if you prefer a bit more serenity, Kalimpong is always an option. At the foothills of the Himalayas, towered over by the majestic Khangchendzonga these quaint hill stations are picture perfect getaways. In charming Kurseong, take a stroll through green hills upon hills of tea estates or simply admire the Toy Train of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway puffing through the lush green terrain.

6. Madhya Pradesh

Not your conventional “Touristy” state, but you may find yourself pleasantly surprised by some hidden gems which we shall take you along to discover. A moonlit night time adventure at amongst jagged magnesium-limestone cliffs is an excellent case in point. Another hidden gem is Tamia, a picturesque forest destination with a breath-taking mountain backdrop.

7. Kerala

Land home to a different kind of Rolling greens than you would find in Himachal Pradesh (pun intended). You can explore emerald green tea plantations around Munnar, or rejuvenate yourself in the wild in the Wayanad region of Western Ghats. Secluded and serene, nothing speaks in the lap of nature like these ethereal terrains of God’s own country. In Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park if the stars align you might also witness the Nilakurinji flower, which blooms once in 12 years.

8. Tamilnadu

Apart from the charming Chettinad mansions, and the majestic Madurai temples Tamil Nadu is also home to a number of getaways into cooler destinations. Boasting of the Nilgiri hills and its very own part of the Western Ghats, hill stations like Kodaikanal and Coonoor are relaxing and intimate, perhaps a bit more so than the slightly more famous Ooty. With some spectacular views from boutique properties, opportunities for hikes and walks through local plantations are also aplenty.
